QUINCY (WGEM) -Fall-Con 2022 is taking place this weekend at Quincy Town Center.
The event features games, celebrity appearances and local and out-of-town vendors like Patrick Kehoe.
“I travel to conventions and various events, mostly to sell miniature games,” Kehoe said.
Kehoe traveled from St. Charles, Missouri to sell his Piratepat’s Games.
He said he had taken a liking to the natives of Quincy.
“Seems like they’re open-minded, nice little town,” Kehoe said.
Fall-Con 2022 brings the people of Quincy together while bringing some tourism revenue into the Quincy economy.
Fall-Con director Mike Stanbridge said hotels in the area were booked up for the weekend.
“I don’t know if we’re to blame, but if you’re trying to book a hotel room tonight, it’s impossible, folks,” Stanbridge said.
He said he plans to bring more local events to the area.
“I love the Town Center and we will be bringing in more events,” said Stanbridge. “The kids have a lot of fun. A lot of kids in Quincy don’t have the opportunity to go to events like this.”
Actor Mark Holton also spent some time in Quincy for the convention.
“There are things to do and things to see. Come down, they’ve got some smoked turkey drumsticks you’re going to die for,” Holton said.
He showed up to present a special screening of his film PeeWee’s Big Adventure in Quincy, but said he wanted to see more of the Tri-States.
“Then I found out that Hannibal is right down the street. And my Mark Twain thing went… [expression of excitement]’ Holton said.
Fall-Con continues Sunday in downtown Quincy.
Parking at the event is free and there is a special screening of Back to the Future at 1pm
One of the actors from this film, JJ Cohen, will introduce the film and answer questions from the audience.
