Reports of problems began appearing on Down Detector, an outage reporting website, around 6:30 am.
43% of users reported problems with the app, 40% with the feed and 16% with the website in general.
Facebook homepage with celebrity pages
On Twitter, all users seem to be seeing the same problem: the homepage doesn’t show posts from friends, instead it shows seemingly random posts on celebrity sites.
One user wrote: “@facebook is down or what???? My feed is full of what random people are commenting on celebrity sites.”
Another shared: “Anyone else #facebook feed weird random posts to celebs?”
Has Facebook been hacked?
Facebook has not confirmed any outages or issues with the site at the time of writing, and there is no evidence that Facebook has been hacked.
Avid Facebook users have taken advantage of the bug to say hello to the wider Facebook community.
One shared on Adele’s Facebook page: “I don’t know but I’d like to try too, hi!”
While another wrote: “Hey mama I’m famous.”
According to the Twitter reports, the issue seems to be affecting people all over the world, showing various celebrity Facebook pages.
