Dancer-choreographer and Dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough married his longtime girlfriend, dancer Hayley Erbert, in an outdoor ceremony in Monterey County, California on Saturday.
“We’re in a sequoia forest, but we got married right in front of this mother tree that’s surrounded by all these smaller trees,” said Erbert, 28, a “So You Think You Can Dance” veteran and a former member of the ” DWTS” force, told People magazine. “They drop all the seeds and it plants itself like an army of children to protect the mother. The symbolism was beautiful. We are here planting our seeds to increase our family.”

Six-time DWTS winner and three-time Emmy Award winner Hough, 38, added, “As we thought about the location, we asked ourselves, ‘What’s important to us?’ … Nature came first. We want to be close to trees and plants, and Northern California kind of appealed to us. We just want people to experience this place that we love, this nature, but it also just feels incredibly romantic.”
Celebrity guests included Hough’s younger sister, dancer-actress, two-time Mirror Ball winner and upcoming “DWTS” co-host Julianne Hough; other show veterans including dancers Jenna Johnson and Kym Herjavec and co-host Alfonso Ribeiro; TV personality Maria Menounos; and actors like Freida Pinto and Nina Dobrev. The newlyweds had started dating in 2015 and Hough proposed to him in June last year.
