For the first time, the WHO Regional Office for Europe is working with a group of prominent influencers to raise awareness of making health for all a reality.
Soulin Omar, Helena Christensen, Lawrence Okolie, Diego Barrueco and Mo Abdulle have come together to share a simple message: ensure universal health coverage for all – including refugees and migrants.
By collaborating with these celebrities from all walks of life, the WHO Regional Office for Europe is able to reach a wider audience to share messages on making universal health coverage a reality.

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege
Refugees and migrants make up more than 13% of the people of Europe and Central Asia, but many remain excluded from universal health insurance. They can face many challenges in accessing health services. However, the right to health applies to everyone, including refugees and migrants.
Shaping a new vision of health
It is estimated that 281 million people worldwide live outside their country of origin – that is more than 1 in 30 people. The WHO European Region is home to approximately 36% of the world’s international migrant population.
On 17 and 18 March 2022, the WHO Regional Office for Europe is inviting ministers of health and representatives of Member States from the WHO regions of Europe, Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as representatives of refugee and migrant groups and partner organizations to a high-level meeting on health and migration. This is part of the ongoing work of the WHO Regional Office for Europe with other WHO regions and partners to develop a shared vision for refugee and migrant health.
