Celebrities Remember Lisa Marie Presley

Celebrities took to social media to express shock and heartache at the death of Lisa Marie Presley, the singer-songwriter and Elvis Presley’s only daughter.

“There’s heartbreak and then there’s grief. That would be sadness and on more levels than I can count,” Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan said on Instagram late Thursday, where he also shared a photo of himself with wife Presley. “I really can’t find the words to express how sad this really is.”

“Lisa Baby Girl, I’m so sorry,” actor John Travolta said on Instagram. “I will miss you, but I know I will see you again.”

Songwriter Linda Thompson, who dated Elvis in the 1970s, also used Instagram. “My heart is too heavy for words,” she said.

Fashion designer Donatella Versace said on Instagram that she will never forget our time together, adding, “Your beauty and your kindness shone so brightly.”

“So sad to have lost another bright star in Lisa Marie Presley,” actress Octavia Spencer said on Twitter. “My condolences to her loved ones and a multitude of fans.”

The Golden Globes Twitter account said, “We are incredibly saddened” by the news of her death. Ms. Presley’s last public appearance was Tuesday at the awards ceremony celebrating Austin Butler’s best actor for the title role in the Baz Luhrmann biopic Elvis.

“Lisa Marie Presley… how heartbreaking,” singer LeAnn Rimes told Cibrian on Twitter. “I hope she finds peace in her father’s arms.”

Some celebrities also recalled the difficulties she faced.

“Lisa hasn’t had an easy life,” actress Leah Remini said on Twitter, adding that she was heartbroken by the news. “May she be at peace and now rest with her son and father.”

Mrs. Presley lost her father when she was 9 years old. Married and divorced four times, she also struggled with opioid addiction. Her son Benjamin Keough committed suicide in 2020. Less than six months before her own death, she wrote about her grief at his loss.

Corey Feldman, an actor and singer, said he spent hours on the phone with Ms. Presley when she was divorcing singer Michael Jackson. Benjamin Keough is “like a little brother to him,” Mr. Feldman said.

“So much loss, so much tragedy,” he said on Twitter, adding that “she was a beautiful, powerful woman” who wanted to “make her own rules.”

“A sweet and gentle soul,” actor Cary Elwes said on Twitter. “We extend our deepest, sincere condolences to Priscilla, Riley and their family and friends.”
