Celebrities React to Namoi Judd’s Death: Tributes from Stars

mourning for an icon. Celebs from Hollywood to Nashville and beyond are mourning the loss of Namoi Judd.

sisters Wynonna Judd and Ashley Judd announced the death of their mother on Saturday April 30th. “Today we sisters witnessed a tragedy,” they said in a joint statement via Twitter. “We lost our beautiful mother to mental illness. We are shaken. We navigate deep sorrow knowing that she was loved by her audience just as we loved her. We are in uncharted territory.”

The 76-year-old rose to fame in 1983 when he sang alongside Wynonna, now 57. The Judds dominated the country music charts during their first eight-year career. The “Mama He’s Crazy” singers have won multiple Grammy Awards and CMA Awards. The duo broke up in 1991 but have reunited over the years for various performances, including a 2010 tour to promote their greatest hits album, I Will Stand by You: The Essential Collection.

Most recently, Wynonna and Naomi reunited for an appearance at the 2022 CMT Music Awards on April 11, where they were introduced by Kacey Musgraves. They performed “Love Can Build a Bridge,” which was their first nationally televised awards show in more than 20 years.

The show was co-hosted by Kelsea Ballerini, who responded to the news of Naomi’s death via her Instagram story shortly after the news broke. The photo showed that she heard “Love Can Build a Bridge” on her phone. She captioned the slide with a broken heart emoji.

Maren Morris also noted the hit when reacting to Naomi’s death. “Rest in peace Naomi Judd. I’m honored to have seen ‘Love Can Build a Bridge’ just a few weeks ago,” the 32-year-old tweeted on Saturday.

Carrie underwood Noting that her family was on their minds, tweeting on Saturday: “Country music has lost a true legend… sing with the angels Naomi!!! We are all sending prayers for the Judd family today.”

big and rich John Reich also mentioned the late singer’s loved ones. “So very sad to hear that #NaomiJudd passed away today,” Rich, 48, wrote via Twitter. “I had the honor of knowing her, and she was without a doubt one of the most well-known entertainers to ever make country music. Thinking about my good friend @Wynonna this is a very tough day for her and family.”
