Celebrities Pay Tribute to the Actor

His celebrity friends remember Carl Weathers after his death.

Mariska Hargitay, Snoop Dogg and Octavia Spencer are among the stars who paid tribute to the late actor, best known for his roles in “Rocky,” “Predator” and “The Mandalorian,” after he died on Thursday at the age of 10 died at 76 years old.

On Friday, Hargitay, 60, posted a selfie of her and Weathers together in a car on set while filming Law & Order: SVU during his guest appearance on the series in 2018.

“We lost a great game. God bless you♥️,” the actress wrote in her caption.

Dogg, 52, supported Weathers in a post on Instagram, writing, “Long Beach legend 🙏🏾🎥🥊🕊️🌹. RIP,” referring to the area where he and New Orleans-born Weathers grew up and lived.

Spencer, 52, also posted a heartfelt message in memory of Weathers, writing on Instagram: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Carl Weathers. His legendary career, particularly as Apollo Creed in the Rocky series, will forever inspire us all.”

“Sending love to his family, friends and fans around the world 🤍🕊️,” the Truth Be Told actress added.

Weathers died Thursday at age 76.

Meanwhile, Marlon Wayans detailed in his own post how Weathers' portrayal of Apollo Creed in Rocky “changed my life.”

“A hero is only as good as your villain… APOLLO was great and it made ROCKY greater,” Wayans, 51, wrote in his caption. “This film changed my life. It gave me as a young black actor and man the opportunity to see a character played with as much finesse and dignity as Carl Wethers portrayed Apollo. Thank you for always being a beacon of dignity…rest well.”

The latest tributes to Weathers — who died peacefully in his sleep, according to a statement from his family, according to Deadline and Variety — came after Sylvester Stallone made an emotional statement in memory of his Rocky co-star.

“We lost a legend yesterday,” Stallone, 77, wrote on Instagram. “My life forever changed for the better when I met Carl Weathers. Rest easy and keep hitting.” The actor and director added in a video released alongside his message that Weathers is a “complex part of my life and success.”

Dolph Lundgren, who starred opposite Weathers in Rocky IV, wrote in a post: “I was sad to hear the news this morning. I, along with the world, will miss Carl. He was a great actor, a great athlete and a good friend. I have many special memories of Carl, both professionally and personally. Like Apollo Creed, he had that special charm that always put a smile on your face. 🙏.”

Michael B. Jordan, who plays Apollo's son Adonis Creed in the Creed film series, also paid tribute to Weathers, writing on Instagram: “We have lost a legend.”

Weathers' The Mandalorian co-star Pedro Pascal simply wrote in a post: “Words are missing 💔 #CarlWeathers.” The late actor portrayed bounty hunter guild leader Greef Karga in the Star Wars series, who was close to Pascal's eponymous character.

Pedro Pascal also paid tribute to “The Mandolorian” co-star Weathers.

Arnold Schwarzenegger also honored former co-star Weathers by sharing a still of the couple on the set of the 1987 sci-fi action film “Predator.”

“Carl Weathers will always be a legend. “An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor and a great human being,” the 76-year-old actor wrote in a message. “We couldn’t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn't have had that much fun making it. Every minute with him – on set and off – was pure joy.”

“He was the type of friend who pushes you to do your best just to keep up with him. I will miss him and my thoughts are with his family,” Schwarzenegger added.
