Elton-John, tom hanksJools Holland and Paul McCartney joined artist David Hockney for the launch of his new immersive digital art exhibition in London’s King’s Cross this week.
The David Hockney: Bigger & Closer (Not Smaller and Further Away) exhibition marks the launch of Lightroom – a four-story, cuboid space that uses surround projection and audio to immerse visitors.
The artist-run venue is home to a range of the latest AV technology, including the UK’s first Holoplot X1 matrix array fixed sound system.
Lightroom’s integration partner, Creative Technology, installed two X1 arrays at either end of the room. Each consists of four X1 Modul 96 and four X1 Modul 80-S embedded and fully concealed in wall cavities to create a pristine 360° projection surface.
The Hockney exhibit also features 1,408 speakers, 28 projectors and a digital screen size of approximately 108 million pixels, as well as veiled media servers.
