Cincinnati is no stranger to the limelight as the city increasingly attracts award-winning Hollywood directors and top talent – from Timothée Chalamet and Cate Blanchett to Colin Farrell and Regina King – for various film projects.
In fact, earlier this year, MovieMaker magazine named Cincinnati one of the “Best Places to Live and Work as a Filmmaker,” thanks in part to Ohio’s 30 percent discount on projects that spend at least $300,000.
No wonder, then, when Queen City residents come across stars.
But a new production appears to be boosting the celebrity quotient in town.
Director Jeff Nichols (Loving, Mud, Take Shelter) is shooting The Bikeriders in Cincinnati. Inspired by photographer Danny Lyon’s 1967 book of the same name, the film tells “an original story about a 1960’s Midwestern motorcycle club that evolves over the course of a decade from a community of misfits into a far more sinister gang.” to an article in Variety magazine.

A follower of @deuxmoi said they saw Austin Butler in downtown Boca.
“We are thrilled to host this incredibly talented team and to offer tremendous opportunities to local people,” said Kristen Schlotman, Executive Director of Film Cincinnati, in a release about the film. “It’s a very exciting time for Cincinnati’s own role in the film industry.”
The Bikeriders stars – who began filming this month – include Tom Hardy (Venom, Dunkirk, Inception), Austin Butler (Elvis), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Michael Shannon (Knives Out, The Shape of Water, Boardwalk Empire). and Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead).
And they don’t just stay on set.
According to the popular celebrity-spotting Instagram account @deuxmoi, Butler was spotted downtown at the Boca restaurant last weekend.
And Reddit user smithsknits spotted Shannon during BLINK, writing in one post: “He was so kind and very sweet. He was with his mother and brother. He spoke to my two children about their light swords. What a surreal moment! “
Shannon was also spotted drinking coffee at Over-the-Rhine’s 1215 Wine Bar & Coffee Lab.
PerThe Cincinnati Enquirer, Hardy — a Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion who’s not just an actor — attended Powell MMA and Fitness in the West End in early October, posed for a photo with the gym’s owner and posted it to his Instagram story.
And Reedus was spotted shopping at Blue Ash Target.
Last week, it looks like The Bikeriders was filming in Ludlow, Kentucky (per reddit), so keep your eyes peeled — you never know when you might hit an A-lister.
