At this year’s Venice Film Festival, stars are showing even more glamor. At the event, which began August 30 and runs through September 9, everyone from Adam Driver and Jessica Chastain to Sadie Sink and Kerry Washington enjoyed the sea views and basking in the Italian sun.
Several couples also performed together at various festival events this year, including George and Amal Clooney and Taika Waititi and Rita Ora. Additionally, “Euphoria” stars Sydney Sweeney and Maude Apatow walked the red carpet together, and “Riverdale” stars Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes were also out during the celebrations – all smartly dressed, of course.
Meanwhile, on September 4th, Priscilla Presley, Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi walked the red carpet to promote their film “Priscilla,” which is based on Presley’s memoir. Other highly anticipated projects premiering at the festival include Bradley Cooper’s Maestro and Emma Stone’s Poor Things, although neither Cooper nor Stone performed that year. Luckily, plenty of other celebs ready to shine have also emerged, and many appear to be sporting unusually daring looks this year.
Why are stars attending the Venice Film Festival during the actors’ strike?
Ahead of the festival, some questions were raised as to whether actors would attend at all this year given the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, which is largely preventing actors from promoting their projects in any way. However, in an Aug. 27 statement on its website, SAG-AFTRA clarified that some exceptions to the strike rule have been made thanks to an interim agreement currently in place.
“To be absolutely clear, once an agreement is in place, we wholeheartedly encourage all of our SAG-AFTRA members to work under that agreement AND to promote the work done under that agreement. As more projects are implemented with the interim agreement, the AMPTP will become weaker,” the statement said. “So let’s encourage our fellow artists working out there… If the rights to distribute some of these projects created under the Interim Agreement are eventually acquired, it will be of great benefit,” it concludes. “A list of projects with interim agreements is a list of productions that give in to our deal.”
