Famous participants in the 2022 Boston Marathon include a former NASCAR champion, former participants of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, and a number of former athletes.
Here are the celebrities running the 2022 Boston Marathon.
Lydia Edwards
Outgoing Boston City Councilwoman Lydia Edwards tweeted Monday that she will lace up her shoes to run the marathon. Edwards, who was recently elected to the state senate, posted a photo of her race number and included a link to donate to a bursary fund for working mothers.
Matt Kenseth
Always fast behind the wheel, Kenseth won the 2003 NASCAR season championship and has been a consistent top driver throughout his 20-year career. Kenseth ran his first marathon in Berlin in 2019 at the urging of his wife Katie and will run with her in the 2022 Boston Marathon, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Heather O’Reilly and Leslie Osbourne
O’Reilly and Osbourne, former teammates of the United States women’s national soccer team, will compete in the 2022 Boston Marathon on Monday.
O’Reilly is a three-time medalist and FIFA World Cup winner, while Osborne played for the Boston Breakers and Chicago Stars in the Women’s Professional Soccer League. Both are now retired.
Kristine Lili
Lilly, a former staunch supporter of the United States women’s national soccer team, will also officiate Monday’s race.
As the record-breaking player in team history, Lilly is part of the eight-man women’s honor team that runs in honor of the eight women who ran the Boston Marathon in 1972 as part of the first official women’s field.
Sarah Fuller
Also part of the women’s volunteer team is Sarah Fuller, who made history as the first woman to attend a Power 5 varsity football game while kicking for Vanderbilt in 2020.
“I really want to give credit to the women who fought to make this happen 50 years ago,” Fuller said.
MattJames
The Bachelor season 25 star will be running the 2022 Boston Marathon to raise money and awareness for USO.
Zac Clark
Zac Clark, who proposed at the end of The Bachelorette’s season 16 star Tayshia Adams, will also air Monday.
Clark, 38, turned to running as part of his recovery from addiction. Read more about his story here.
Bob Soci
Socci, the New England Patriots radio personality, will run the marathon to raise money for the Doug Flutie Foundation.
Adrianne Haslet and Shalane Flanagan
Haslet, who lost her leg in the 2013 bombings, will run the race with Flanagan as her support trainer. Flanagan, a Marblehead Olympian, retired from professional running in 2019.

Ethan Zohn
The Survivor Champion and native of Lexington is celebrating 10 years without cancer by running the Boston Marathon to raise money for AKTIV Against Cancer.
The last time Zohn ran the Boston Marathon was in 2013. He was at mile 24 when the bombs went off at the finish line.
“It’s like everything in my life has led to this point, to this race,” Zohn said. “I put a little pressure on myself, but it represents so much in my life. I’m just so excited to come back to Boston and run.”
Berj Najarian
Najarian, the Patriots’ director of football/head coach administration, is Bill Belichick’s right-hand man.
He’s running Monday to raise funds for an organization he founded in 2021 called Who We Are, which, according to Patriots.com, “supports those working to preserve, create, learn and share cultural identity.”
Najarian is an Armenian-American and has previously raised funds through the NFL program My Cause, My Cleats to raise awareness of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
