Boy George and Stormzy among celebrities at Adele’s An Audience With…

Boy George, Stormzy and Emma Watson were among the famous faces who  -peared in the audience of Adeles An Audience With…

The musical superstar played songs from her new album, 30, and older tracks like Hometown Glory and Hello at the London Palladium for a pre-recorded ITV special.

Actors Idris Elba, Dame Emma Thompson, Years And Years star Olly Alexander, the presenters Kate Garraway, Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton, the comedians Harry Hill and Michael McIntyre and the musical star Andrew Lloyd Webber were also on the A list.

During the show, the singer allowed viewers to ask questions, with actress and comedian Dawn French first joking, “Tonight is all about you, Adele, so when are you going to write a song about me?”

The comedian then asked: “Your music is so relatable, do tons of people come to you to tell you all about their breakups and relationship problems?”

Adele replied, “To be honest, when I’m not in the same singing mode, which of course is most of my life, not much.

“But at a party or something like that, someone will have a drink and then come over and tell me their whole relationship story.

“And I’m just trying to laugh.

“And sometimes when I meet my fans and stuff, especially on the last tour, I like to go into the crowd and meet people and some of the stories were wild.

“They really credit me for either getting them through or getting them kicked out.”

She jokingly added, “So kind of yeah, why are you okay?

Actor Samuel L. Jackson was next to ask the pop star if she’d ever used her fame to get out of a ticket or in other situations.

Adele remembered a time when she first moved to LA and drove her in a rental car that had too dark tinted windows that she was unaware of.

She added, “I was minding my own business and then all of a sudden a police car pulled up behind me, indicating I had to stop, so I just stopped where I was, I had never been stopped in my life. “

The singer said the police officer then directed her to pull into the car pool lane she was following.

She added, “I had all the windows down as I was taught before, especially when stopped in America, you never know what they’re going to do.

“Gave him my British driver’s license, it could have been just as good as a blockbuster card, he’d never seen one, doesn’t look like me either, it’s like me when I was 17.”

The pop star remembered the cop then walking back to his car and coming back to her while talking on the phone to his wife, who was yelling at her husband for running over the star.

She said: He says, ‘I’m so sorry Adele. I’m sorry, do whatever you have to do ‘.

“That was funny. But yeah, I kind of didn’t want to, I was ready to go to jail. But he was … well, she really saved the day.”

English soccer coach Gareth Southgate also got the singer on the trail when he asked who of the high profile crowd she would like to work with.

After a moment of deliberation, she gave the surprising answer of actor Daniel Kaluuya, noting that she was not an actress herself, but loved his work.
