A few days ago, Good Morning America’s United States burger contest ended, crowning the best burger in the country. You voted on a fairly new spot in Texas owned by a local rapper.
Houston music legend Bun B and his burger joint Trill Burgers won a $10,000 prize on Friday, beating notable burgers like The Companion in Atlanta, GA and Babe’s Meat & Counter in Miami, FL.
The artist-turned-restaurateur cooked in the competition, beating another chef from the same city to represent the Lone Star State in the latest competition, filmed in Times Square on July 29.
The musician is best known for his fairly successful rap career with songs like “Get Throwed”. He also makes up half of the Houston rap duo UGK and released popular songs like “Int’l Players Anthem” in the 2000s.
He’s focused a little less on music since then, but those elements are still emphasized in his burger joint, which opened in 2021. The store’s namesake “Trill” comes from the name of the artist’s debut solo album.

This year he’s been catering for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, as well as music festivals like Coachella and Rolling Loud, where fans have raved about the food.
Trill Burgers have also been tried by countless celebrities like James Harden and Lil Baby, as well as fellow musicians like members of The Roots, Action Bronson and Soulja Boy.
They offer three smashed burgers: The OG Trill Burger, a burger with grilled onions, and a vegan burger that can be served with a side of fries if desired.
Trill Burgers remains just a pop-up shop for now, but the company regularly updates the Instagram account where you can find them next.
