It may seem like sheer luck to meet your favorite actor or actress right here in your hometown, but of course, finding out who’s in town is always half the battle. At any given moment, one of these celebrities will be wandering the streets of Metro Vancouver – just waiting to be discovered!

Here are 18 celebrities to spot in Vancouver this December.

Jon Voight

Jon Voight will be in the Metro Vancouver area this December filming for his latest role in thriller The Painter.

Voight is an award-winning actor who has been in show business since the ’60s and has an Oscar and four Golden Globe Awards under his belt. Some of his films are Midnight Cowboy, Runaway Train, The Rainmaker, Mission: Impossible and Enemy of the State to name a few. And in case you missed it, he also played Reese Witherspoon’s father in the Christmas movie Four Christmases.

Christina Ricc

Christina Ricci can be spotted in the Vancouver area this winter. Ricci is in town for her role as Misty in the second season of Yellowjackets. Ricci is a longtime actress who rose to fame as a child star in the ’90s. She has played a variety of roles over the years and has appeared in films such as The Addams Family, Casper, Black Snake Moan, Now and Then, Sleepy Hollow, Monster and Distorted.

Julia Lewis

Joining Christina Ricci on the set of Yellowjackets is actress Juliette Lewis. Lewis is the daughter of actor Geoffery Lewis and has also been acting for decades – you may remember her as a young Audrey Griswold on the Christmas break in the classic National Lampoon.

Some of her other notable roles are Cape Fear, Natural Born Killers, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, Whip It, Catch and Release, Conviction, and who could forget her role in the film Enough alongside Jennifer Lopez?

Joel McHale

Actor and comedian Joel McHale can be spotted around town. McHale is in town filming for the new series Animal Control, in which he stars. He is most remembered from the NBC sitcom community, and he has also appeared in films such as Ted, Spiderman 2, and Open Season 2.

Freddie Highmore

Best known for his chilling portrayal of Norman Bates on the TV series Bates Motel, Freddie Highmore is shooting another season of The Good Doctor in Metro Vancouver. Highmore has been acting since childhood and has appeared in films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland and The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Hilary Swank

Keep an eye out for Hilary Swank around town this month! Swank is in town for her latest role on the new series Alaska Daily, which is currently filming its first season.

Swank really needs no introduction – she’s played a variety of different roles and won numerous awards throughout her career. Some of her most popular films are Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don’t Cry, PS I Love You, Freedom Writers, Conviction, and Amelia.

KJ What

KJ Apa is currently filming the seventh and final season of Riverdale in the Vancouver area. With all seasons filmed in the Metro Vancouver area, Apa is no stranger to the city and has spent a lot of time here over the years. He’s usually spotted roaming around town – so keep an eye out!

Apa is an aspiring New Zealand actor and musician who landed the lead role of Archie in 2017’s Riverdale. He has also acted in feature films such as A Dog’s Purpose, The Last Summer and Songbird.

Lili Reinhart

Lili Reinhart joins KJ Apa on location in Vancouver this November on Riverdale Season 7. Reinhart plays the lead role of Betty on the series and has also starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in films such as Chemical Hearts, Galveston and Hustlers and even had a cameo in the 2019 film Charlie’s Angels.

Camila Mendes will also be in Vancouver this month filming for Riverdale. Rumor has it that Mendes got her first acting job in an Ikea commercial before starring in Riverdale as the main character Veronica. Since then she has acted in films such as The Perfect Date, Coyote Lake and Dangerous Lies.

Cole Sprouse

Rounding out this foursome is Cole Sprouse, known as Jughead Jones on the Riverdale series. Sprouse will also be in Vancouver filming for the show’s final season.

Sprouse has been acting since childhood and rose to fame at a young age when he starred alongside his twin brother Dylan in Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. He also starred in Big Daddy alongside Adam Sandler and even appeared in a few Friends episodes back then – remember Ross’ adorable son Ben?!

Grant Gustin

Grant Gustin is back in action for The Flash season 9 and will be in Vancouver this month. Gustin has also had roles on shows such as 90210 and Glee, and has appeared on Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Arrow. Keep an eye out for the actor in the Coal Harbor neighborhood, where he’s known to be staying during production, according to pictures on his Instagram.

Olivia Liang

Olivia Liang is currently filming the third season of Kung Fu in Vancouver. She is best known for her role on the series as lead character Nicky Shen, but she has also had roles on television series such as Legacies and Dating After College and even appeared in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

Marcia Gay Harden

Marcia Gay Harden is in Vancouver shooting the first season of CBS’s So Help Me Todd, which began production last August. Harden is an award-winning actress who got her start in television shows in the 80’s before moving on to films. Some of her films are The First Wives Club, Flubber, Mystic River, Mona Lisa Smile, Whip It and the Fifty Shades trilogy.

Skylar Astin

Joining Marcia Gay Harden on the set of So Help Me Todd is Skylar Astin, who plays Harden’s son in the new series.

Astin is probably best remembered as Jesse in the films Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2, in which he played Anna Kendrick’s love interest. His other notable roles include the series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, 21 and Over, and Ghosts of War.

Max Thieriot

Another celebrity to look out for is Max Thieriot. Thieriot came to Vancouver last July to shoot for a brand new CBS series called Fire Country, in which he stars as a named young convict Bode Donovan.

Thieriot has starred in a number of films and television shows over the years, from a long-running role in Bates Motel to SEAL Team to films such as Jumper, The House at the End of the Street starring Jennifer Lawrence and one of his earliest roles in The Pacifier alongside Vin Diesel.

Billy Burke

Joining Max Thieriot on the set of Fire Country is Billy Burke. Burke is usually recognized as Charlie Swan from Twilight, also known as Bella’s father, or maybe you remember him from the movie Red Riding Hood or from the CBS series Zoo. Most recently, he played Alex’s father in the Netflix miniseries Maid, which was filmed in Victoria, BC.

Kevin Alejandro

Also joining these two actors in Fire Country is Kevin Alejandro. Alejandro has been an actor for a while and has appeared on hit shows like Lucifer, Southland, Arrow, True Blood and Parenthood.

Walker Scobell

Child actor Walker Scobell is filming in the Vancouver area for Disney+’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians, also working title Mink Golden.

Known for playing the younger version of Ryan Reynolds in the recent film The Adam Project, Scobell is only 13 years old and just beginning his acting career. We have to say that starring alongside actors like Jennifer Garner and Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds is a great place to start!
