Reality TV is a unique type of media that allows viewers to see how the participants are themselves in real-life situations and social interactions. In some cases, shows reach out to celebrities and ask them to star in specially curated versions of their programs.
Watching celebrities in the familiar setting of pre-existing reality TV shows can be an unexpected treat for fans, which leaves many of them highly rated. Whether the celebrities master challenges in a game show or try their hand at a skill like cooking or dancing, viewers can see their favorite actors and musicians from a new perspective.
10 The celebrity -prentice (2008 – 2017) – 4.8
Donald Trump’s claim to reality TV fame is The -prentice. However, many skilled stars and entrepreneurs have since hosted it. At The -prentice, aspiring businesspeople start two “companies” and take part in challenges and eliminations to become “The -prentice” and win a $ 250,000 contract to promote one of Trump’s properties.
In the celebrity version of the show, The Celebrity -prentice, stars competed for charity, along with the title “The -prentice”. What made this version great was the charity aspect of the show, knowing that the stars were fighting for something bigger than themselves. It was also an opportunity to interact with very different celebrities like Gibert Gottfried and Kevin Jonas and get some big laughs.
9 Celebrity Big Brother (2018 -) – 5.5
Big Brother is one of the most popular reality TV shows that airs today, with viewers even watching live streams of the participants which are broadcast around the clock. The show features a group of “houseguests” who live in the Big Brother House and are camera-monitored as they compete for the role of “house manager”, participate in challenges, and vote for eliminations.
Who wouldn’t want to see celebrities roll around in giant cubes or get into a showmance with a stuffed owl named Orwell like Meta did? Big Brother’s Celebrity Edition is similar, but not identical, to the regular format. Instead of three months, it takes place over one and the price is $ 250,000 instead of $ 500,000. This money also goes to a charity of the winner’s choice that the fans love.
8th Celebrity Master Chef (2006 -) – 5.8
Viewers might be shocked to learn how many celebrities call themselves home cooks. John Torode and Gregg Wallace serve as judges for stars who vie for the celebrity version of the coveted culinary title “Master Chef”.
While Gordon Ramsay, who made audiences gasp, laugh and cry with tears of joy in some of his finest moments, watch him interact with celebrities is very entertaining as the main focus in life. Teamwork and grace under pressure during the various challenges throw the celebrities in loops they never expected, which makes it very easy to get on the show.
7th Celebrity rehab with Dr. Drew (2008 – 2012) – 6.0
On this show, Dr. Drew Pinsky and the staff at the Pasadena Recovery Center take addicted celebrities and document their experiences. Unlike other celebrity versions of TV series, this show initially focused on celebrity participants and then became Rehab With Dr. Drew who didn’t help famous people.
Dealing with addiction and the path to recovery can be very difficult, and seeing celebrities struggle and persevere (or fail and straighten up) with the same things can be incredibly motivating and inspiring to people they consider role models. or for others who just want to feel less alone.
6th Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Celebrity Edition (1999 -) – 6.3
The hit game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has introduced celebrity editions of the show to celebrity stars and public figures to answer questions in hopes of raising money for a charity they care about.
One harsh criticism that many stars face is that they are not very smart or that their expertise is impractical in the real world, giving celebrities the opportunity to show their knowledge of a wide variety of topics and do their best give to avoid it becoming one of the biggest mistakes in the history of the show. Notable candidates on the show included Queen Latifah, Alec Baldwin, and Ray Romano.
5 Celebrity Family Feud (2008-) – 6.3
Family Feud, the incredibly fun game show hosted by Steve Harvey and his plethora of great suits, is another game show with a celebrity version. Instead of real families competing for the right answers, however, the opposing teams are made up of groups of diverse celebrities working together as a unit.
Family Feud is always full of laughs as the timer and pressure of the questions lead to pretty hilarious responses from nervous participants, as does celebrities – they even have some of the best celebrity imitations in the SNL family inspired feud sketches. Like many celebrity editions of reality TV shows, these stars work together to raise money for charity, which makes them all the more exciting.
4th Celebrity Mole: Hawaii & Yucatan (2003-2004) – 7.5
The Mole is a game show hosted by Anderson Cooper and then Ahmad Rashād in which players must work together to solve puzzles and solve puzzles, as well as compete in physical challenges to win a big cash prize. The fun twist is that one player among them is “The Mole” tasked with sabotaging the team’s progress.
Prominent contestants included Dennis Rodman, Kathy Griffin, Stephen Baldwin, Erik von Detten from Princess Diaries, and more, who used their intellect and teamwork skills to figure out who the mole was. Seeing stars with big personalities attacking each other in hopes of finding the saboteur is hilarious and engaging to watch, which explains the huge response on IMDb.
3 The big celebrity bake-off (2018 -) – 7.7
The Great Celebrity Bake-Off is the star-studded version of the incredibly popular UK baking competition, The Great British Bake-Off, which raises money for the Stand Up To Cancer charity. As with the mother’s show, the competitors master three challenges: Signature, Technical and Showstopper, and one of the celebrities is called “Star Baker”.
Baking is very technical and there is a lot of pressure to make things perfect, which is great reality TV. Plus, it feels like a glimpse into her life and passions to see a star’s signature baked treat. Not to mention the fact that Stand Up To Cancer is a great thing, and celebrities ready to beat eggs into oblivion and meticulously make frosting for cancer patients are worth watching.
2 Celebrity Undercover Boss (2018) – 8.0
Undercover Boss is an opportunity for company bosses to dress up in funny disguise and get an insightful look at how their business works on different levels. The original series has aired since 2010 and even inspired one of the best SNL Star Wars skits with Kylo Ren as the boss.
In Celebrity Undercover Boss, the celebrity dresses up and finds talented but undiscovered people in their field. It’s fun and amazing to see people get the recognition they deserve, nothing less from celebrities. Stars like Idina Menzel and Jewel have paid attention to singers and athletes, as Gabby Douglas and Deion Sanders put worthy and aspiring athletes in the spotlight.
1 Hacked Tournament of Stars (2014) – 8.4
The Chopped Tournament Of Stars has more stars competing for $ 50,000 to go to major charities. This iteration of TV’s Chopped, one of the top-rated cooking contest shows on television, features actors, comedians, athletes, and Rachael vs Guy winners trying their hand at wicker-themed -petizers, mains, and desserts.
It’s always fun to watch celebrities show off their hobbies and special talents. So when it’s your first time grilling kale, Lucas Grabeel, the high school musical favorite, or the comedian Sindbad who thinks polenta is half a round of cheese, humanize them in a fun and lovable way.
